Buy Powerups with coins?

It says somewhere that you can buy powerups with your coins, but every time I go to purchase a powerup it doesn’t give me the option of using my coins.  How do I do this?  I have a ton of coins that I have never used and really had no idea what they were for until I saw that about the powerups.

Any help would be much appreciated!

  Hi Nicole. If you have a bunch of coins, you only need to use them on power ups in the different game modes, not buy. While playing, look at the bottom of the screen to find the Bomb or Double-Chance power up spaces. During a question, hit one or the other to use your coins and receive the benefit - A Bomb removes two wrong answers and a Double-Chance gives you two attempts to click the correct answer. You can also purchase (and win) other bonuses like Right Answers or Credit Packs.

  How do you buy powerups with coins for survival game? Can’t find rules anywhere.  Have no clue what gems, cards life’s are for

  I have over 300,000 coins and what the hell am I going to do with all of those! They should make it so you can actually buy something like answers or credits.
