Question quality or the lack of

Hello, Robin Blomquist! Thank you so much for reporting this situation here. Please bear in mind we´d appreciate if you would be so kind as so include screenshots of said questions so that we can report them correctly to our Content team. This way they will be able to take the appropriate measures to correct the information thereof. We apologize for all inconvenience this may have caused you. Have a wonderful day!

OMG! It just gets worse! Taking screenshots of every horrible question doesn’t work! Today I’ve had four consecutive photo questions about soap opera “stars” in All My Children. The author is Christen Hays. Recognizing soap opera actors is NOT trivia. Neither is cellular biology IMO, but at least that’s knowledge. We beg you to come up with a decent screening process for questions.

Robin, I will gladly take the soap opera questions any day over the numerous questions asking which pokemon is pictured? What adult knows every single Pokemon. Also I've noticed a lot of questions asking to choose what obscure song belongs to a particular artist. Asking about a particular album is one thing but who knows every single by an artist?

Eric, I might point out that trivia (and essentials) are by definition extremes and have little in common with moderation; but I do believe that moderation is generally the key to a happier life. My original gripe in this thread was about the dozens of questions regarding tiny towns and hamlets unknown by anyone living farther than a stone’s throw away. Then the dozen photos of soap “stars” submitted by Christen Hays. Hundreds of Full/Fuller House? On the other hand I am a fan of classic movies and TV and recognize many of those old actors. And while I haven’t seen most of the Harry Potter or Star Wars movies, I have no complaints about their inclusion because of their vast popularity. I worked in the record industry and have some knowledge about music trivia. I had small kids in the 90s so I know some of the Pokémon idiocy. A few questions about each are reasonable. I will stand by my comparison of soaps to minor-league baseball as inferior entertainment training grounds with limited audiences.

Robin, some questions about soap operas are not bad but the ones you posted are terrible. Some soap actors are very well known i.e. Susan Lucci, Anthony Geary, Kristin Alfonso. Not everyone watch soap operas I get that, but not everyone play Pokemon or know every detail about Harry Potter and the Beatles. Back to your initial post, I totally agree with you. I don't understand why questions are not shuffled better so you didn't get all those questions back to back, I've had that happen to me also

It sounds like we’re mostly on the same page Eric and I must admit I’ve heard of Susan Lucci and Anthony Geary who I believe was Luke of Luke and Laura? However unless Kristen Alfonzo was Laura, that’s about the extent of my daily soaps knowledge. You also apparently know how to get a question approved while I am batting zero for 10 with that.
-
Robin, I haven't gotten a question approved in a couple of months. If you want a question approved you have ask tbehney.498, Kelsey Swanson or Alana Mccarthy to submit them for you. Tbehney questions are terrible but they approve them still, she's the one who is ask all the questions with pictures of actresses from the 1920s and 30s.

Thanks Eric, but it’s been a few years since I gave up submitting entries to the question factory. The closest I ever got was my 3rd try with 9/10 approving. Coincidentally (or maybe not) that was the last submission that I even got votes for. The final handful were ignored without any votes. I just figured there must be some secret factory club that I wasn’t asked to join. I never paid attention to which authors were getting approved until recently when Christen Hays turned up repeatedly as above.
