If I let my pet die, can I get a new one later? Do I get to keep the cookies I have earned?

I will not be able to play for a couple of weeks. I know that means my pet will die. Can I just get a new one in a few weeks? Will I lose all of the cookies I earned or do I have to start over?

  If you don't click on your pet for an extended period of time it doesn't die. Only if you click on it and then don't feed for the next 20 minutes (it counts down) will it die..at least that's what I've learned with no real instruction given for pet ownership.

  Hello agratefulgal & Tyler Hetenyi! Thank you for your post and comments, guys. We hope you´re having a great start to this new week. Agratefulgal, please keep in mind in case your pet does indeed leave during the two weeks in which you will not be able to feed it, it will return again at level 1. However, this does mean that you will lose its progress and the cookies accumulated. We apologize in advance for all inconvenience this could cause you and will take your comments and suggestion to be able to keep a pet´s progress for upcoming game updates.
